TOMAS ULYSSE practices a figurative painting and sculpture in which the traces of life remain omnipresent. The artist wants to freeze moments of life in an uneven, dense, dualist word, changing word, where nevertheless one feels living. Playing with the material, he works the colour, the pigment sometimes in a smooth manner neighbouring transparency, sometimes in the very thick shape impasto. This combinatorial composition gives birth to a lively, spirited, harmonious construction always structured by lines and traits. But this rigour never excludes a certain freedom: introduction of minerals and objects, translucent flows, marks of brush, rubbing connected to a permanent search of light, which create in short the singularity of this painting and this sculpture.
